If Steve Reich ran a drum line, it might sound something like Man Forever. With John Colpitts (aka Kid Millions of Oneida) at the helm, this drum ensemble bangs out Colpitts’ abstract compositions with beauty and precision. Sparingly assisted by other instrumentation, the five drummers on these recordings chart the undulating rhythm — trance-like — of the universe.

Pansophical Cataract will be out soon on Thrill Jockey Records.

Inside joke: the type on the back cover is comprised of every weight of the typeface DIN overlaid atop one another. ‘Din,’ meaning an awkward sound for us english speakers, is also a common arabic term for faith or more specifically the way you live your life through faith. For Germans, it’s an acronym for their national board of standards and shorthand for the famous type endorsed by that board for their license plates. If you put all that together we think it’s an apt metaphor for this project.
